Ordering Tips

Here are a few tips to help make sure you purchase a harrow that will fit your needs.

Drawbar Harrows:

We always suggest that you order a harrow that is at least as wide as the vehicle you are pulling with it, in order to cover your tracks while turning.

If you need to get up to fences or other obstructions, we suggest you get a harrow at least a foot wider (6" on each side) than your wheel base in order to get close without hitting the pulling vehicle. Anything wider allows you to cover more ground per pass.

To match a harrow to your vehicle, we have created these general guidelines:

For a large garden tractor or 200-300 ATV we suggest using one of the EconoDrag harrows.

For a 400-650+ ATV or UTV we suggest using either one of the EconoDrag or Standard harrows.

For a tractor or truck we suggest using either one of a Standard or Maxi harrows.

3pt. Harrows/Harrow Carts:

If you have a tractor with a 3pt. hitch, we always suggest getting a frame for the harrow. Remember: You control a harrow with a frame, a harrow on a drawbar controls you!

A 3pt. harrow on a frame makes your life MUCH easier with the ability to pick it up for transport, back into corners, and shake out any material that can get caught in the mat. You also have full control over the pressure, whether you want a few tines barely skimming the surface or the full mat in constant contact with the ground.

Our general rule is: If you can lift it, you can pull it. It simply comes down to how much ground you want to cover per pass. Also, fewer passes not only means less time, but lower fuel consumption as well.

For landscapers, small pastures, and food plots we suggest either the 3pt. EconoDrag or 3pt. Standard. These are 5' in depth so they are easy to transport, and get around in tight spaces.

For mid sized acreages we suggest using either the 3pt. MaxiLift or Pasture 3pt. harrows. Both these harrows contain our fullest depth of section - 7 1/2' in depth. This depth allows you to break up manure, dirt clods, etc. in a single pass. The 3pt. MaxiLift is a fixed-size frame up to 12" in width. The Pasture 3pt. is an expandable frame that can grow as your needs grow - you to start with a center frame, add wings, and even turn it into a harrow cart up to 23' in width.

For large acreages we suggest using either the Flexible Harrow Cart or the Heavy-duty Harrow Cart. The Flexible Harrow Cart is a bolt-together frame up to 34' in width. The bolt-together design allows the frame to flex if hit, and can be broken down and shipped LTL. The Heavy-Duty Harrow Cart is a welded frame that accommodates wings to be put onto the existing wings in order to achieve up to 50' in width.
